About Us
Our Restaurant
Chidori provides a casual Japanese dining experience in the Wynnum / Manly area. We offer reasonable prices, comfortable seating and great atmosphere, whether you’d like to dine-in or take-away.
Our original menu provides authentic Japanese flavours such as abeyaki udon noodles, renkon chips and agedashi tofu. We also offer meals with a Western twist, such as Camembert cheese wrapped pork rolls, tempura prawns and marinated baby octopus.
The Chidori Name
Chidori (千鳥) translates to “One Thousand Birds”.
Chidori was the name given to the sword of the famous Samurai Tachibana Dōsetsu in the 1500s.
Legend says that Dōsetsu was once struck by lightning, but used the Chidori sword to kill the Thunder God within the lightning and survive the strike.

Toshi Tanaka
Head Chef
Head chef Tanaka-san has 30 years of experience. He first came to Australia with his family in 1997. He worked as a chef at Sono restaurant. He spent a few years filleting sushi grade fish for international export.
Tanaka has been chef-owner of a number of successful Japanese restaurants in Brisbane, including Sakura, Kirra and the Hanabishi restaurant at Bulimba.
His wealth of experience and attention to detail shine through in every dish he prepares.
Tomoka Ota
Restaurant Manager
With over 10 years in the customer service industry, Tomoka is the friendly face of Chidori Restaurant. She has served in 3-star hotel restaurants, as well the Brisbane Japanese Restaurants Sono and Hanabishi. Tomoka is a real delight, and always provides professional service with a smile.
